Sorry I've been mia for so long. China with it's all pervading power, blocked Xanga about 2 months ago, probably since it was having political elections during that time. For some strange reason, it didn't turn it back on, so I haven't had a chance to post. I found a proxy site, so I now can access everything in Xanga except for post pictures. So sad. Well just wanted to let you all know I'm alive. = P

So here's the promised photo extravaganza. I really like this trip a lot, so there's actually quite a lot of photos so please bear with me. = D

We met Tony's cousin Denise (next to him) and her two friends from Brazil, Flavio and Asiani

Eating a Kunming specialty- cross the bridge noodles (sounds stupid in English I know)

A nice section of Kunming. Looks like it could be Hawaii huh?

Sleeper Bus to Tiger Leaping Gorge. A gorgeous place between two snowcapped mountains and with the Yangtze river running through them.

Our first lunch at our hostel. Great view of the gorge from the patio.

The hills all around there are terraced. The green is all rice! First time I've seen rice grow.

Trying to find our way down to the river. We got lost in the scrub.

Finally made it though. = D

The next day we hike around 13 miles for over 11 hours to get back into town. A view into the gorge.

Hiking along the trail. The picture on the right gives you an idea of the vastness of this place.

Marking our passage through.

Picture at the "top" of the trail.

The real peak of the trail. (the graffiti is all from the hostels telling you how far away they are.)

Of course the ubiquitous jumping pic.

At a Naxi minority guesthouse with the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in the back drop.

Another scenic shot.

In the city of Lijiang, famous for it's Naxi minority.

A yummy Tibetan dinner. With momo (dumplings) and Tendlik (a kind of soup). Sooo good!

Chewing on sugercane in Kunming.

In guangzhou having some dessert, shuang pi nai.

Remnents of Portugese colonization.

My new girlfriend. = D Not much of the talker though.

Fireworks display during the New Year celebration in Fujian.

Tony and Davis powering up for a dual energy blast while Eric watches in horror. Dragonball come to life. Hehe

Having the best buffet I've ever had in the Shangri-La hotel in Hong Kong.

Trying to mimic, unsucessfully, a picture taken by Chris Maruyama of Esther Choi in a New York subway, if you guys know who they are.

With Matthew, a guy also from Brazil, who we met in our train compartment and who is joining Flavio (refer to first picture) in Xi'an to do M-work.

All right that's it. Hope you weren't overwhelmed.

So I finally got back from our spring festival tour around southern China. I have to say it was an amazing time. We went from hiking through snow capped peaks, to riding on motorcycles (3 to a cycle), to getting lots and lots boba in HK. = D so good! Don't have any pics with me right now. But next time I update, I'll be sure to put some up.

But I'll leave you with an amazing story. So last summer when Eric, Tony and I were coming back up to Beijing from Hong Kong by train, we ended up meeting Tony's long lost cousin from Brazil. Not only was she in the compartment next to ours, but the only reason we were leaving that day was because I had gotten pneumonia and so we had to stay longer so I could see a doctor. Also, tony knew that his cousin would be coming to China, but he didn't know when or to where or even what she looked like, he just knew she was coming to be an M-worker. So it was amazing that she was sleeping in the compartment next to us. Then this spring festival, when we were in Kunming, she messages Tony and asks what his plans for the festival are. He told her that we were in Kunming and amazingly she replied that she and two friends from Brazil, Flavio and Asiani, were there in Kunming too. So we were able to get together and spend some time together there. Then as we were on the train (the same train as last summer) back to Beijing from Hong Kong a few days ago, we started talking to one of the guys, Matthew, that was in our compartment because he discovered that we spoke English. As we talked we found out that he was from Brazil and was going to Xi'an to studying chinese and we responded that we knew a guy from Brazil who was doing the same thing in Xi'an. We then discovered that the guy we knew in Xi'an, Flavio, turned out to be Matthew's friend from Brazil and soon to be roommate and that he was going there to do M-work as well. This totally blew our minds, these strings of events that G'd strung together for us. So yah moral of the story: G'd is amazing and there are a lot of Brazilian M's coming to China. Haha = D Hope you enjoyed this story.

Wow we're in Guangzhou now with Jackie & Ilybgo from BJ, and Kerry from Xinjiang. We got in from Kunming yesterday and we're leaving from Fujian tomorrow. It's been completely crazy but so much fun. I had seafood for the first time in a long time here in Guangzhou and we had really good tibetan bread in Kunming. Well please rap for us that we don't get sick and that we'll continue to bless and be blessed by the brothers that we'll see.

Hey all. Sorry about the absence of posts. There was actually an earthquake in Taiwan about 6 weeks ago I think that knocked out China's internet connection with the States. So I haven't been able to access Xanga for quite a while. But anyway, just wanted to let you know I'm alive, just subject to the colliding of the plates under the pacific ocean. Also one rap request before I sign off, we offically got our tickets to Kunming city in Yunnan province to visit some of our brothers there during this years Spring festival vacation. We are planning to go to Guangzhou from there and then onto Fujian where we will celebrate the new year. However, train tickets are notoriously hard to get during this crazy time and we don't know if we can get tickets to Guangzhou from Kunming yet b/c they don't release tickets until 10 days before departure and we are planning on leaving Kunming on the 12th. So please rap that we'll be able to get tickets to Guangzhou and Fujian. Thanks.
Ok, that's all for now. Till next time.
